Kathmandu, Dec 22, Nepal Army chief Chhatra Man Singh Gurung Thursday met with NA’s supreme commander and President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav at Shital Niwas.
"It was a regular meeting. All matters related to the Army were briefed during the meeting," the president’s press advisor Rajendra Dahal informed The Rising Nepal after the meeting.
He also said that the president was aware of the issue of bulk integration of the Madhesi youths in NA through media reports.
"This was also discussed during the meeting, but no decisions or views were to be made," he told.
Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai invited Gurung at his residence to discuss the same.
The cabinet meeting had decided to direct the Defense Ministry to integrate 3,000 Madhesi youths, including those from dalit, indigenous and backward communities in the region by forming a separate battalion in the NA.
The decision has been criticized from opposition parties Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, along with other parties and groups.
