Prachanda: Party’s disputes to be solved by CC meet


Chitwan, Dec. 23, UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the ongoing disputes within his party would be settled in the Central Committee (CC) meeting to be held on Saturday.
Chief of the largest ruling party Dahal, who arrived in Chitwan Friday to inaugurate the 38th national convention of Nepal Jaycees made clear that the Maoist party would not split at any cost.
Prachanda admitted that there were disputes within his party but said that having no dispute means having no democracy as well.
He also gave orientation to party cadres after attending the Jaycees function.
Chairman Prachanda said that Nepal would be prosperous only after empowering youth and utilizing the available natural resources.
Recalling that the earlier convention of the Jaycees had drawn attention on the peace process and now it has taken initiative for youth leadership development which is positive.
"As the nation is facing insufficiency of youth power at present, the role of the Jaycees is crucial to fill this gap," Prachanda said.
At the function, 2,000 observers from various 104 branches of the Jaycees were present. Eight personalities contributing in various sectors were awarded at the function.
Meanwhile, 15 persons were awarded the membership of International Jaycees. Likewise, Karna Shakya, Anuradha Koirala and Dr Arju Deuba were awarded honorary membership of the Jaycees.
The function was also addressed by the Jaycees national chief Mahesh Dahal, Karna Shakya, Jaycees General Secretary Prakash Ghimire, Prakash Paudel, Raju KC and Kanchan Agrawal.
The convention to run till Sunday, will elect an chairman, four executive vice chairmen and 10 vice chairmen for 2011/12 term.
