NC urges Maoist to be serious for peace, statute

Kathmandu, Dec 26, Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party meeting Monday called upon ruling UCPN-Maoist to be responsible and serious about completing the constitution writing processes.
The meeting also demanded with the government to provide necessary relief to the people hit hard by the cold wave and the families of those who died in the cold spell.
The meeting, held under PP deputy leader Prakashman Singh in Singha Durbar, demanded that UML-affiliates Youth Force and Akhil Force be restrained.
"We arrived at a decision that the Maoists were reversing consensus on the contents of constitution, which were settled by the Dispute Resolution Sub-committee coordinated by Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda," NC PP spokesman Nabindra Raj Joshi said.
He said that the NC was worried as the Maoist lawmakers overturned consensus on the disputed issues made in the Constitutional Committee.
Joshi said that the formation of Youth Force and the decision to constitute the Akhil Force had promoted organized violence.

"We are against all forms of violence. It is rather condemnable if any political party orients towards violence for the partisan interests," he added.
On the death toll caused by the cold in Terai, the PP said that the people would not have succumbed to cold if the government had provided necessary assistance and relief package to them in time.
It also condoled the death of the people in the Terai.
The meeting also wished the speedy recovery of journalist Rajendra Dahal, who was admitted to Norvic Hospital after cardiac arrest.
