Two bombs defused in Gaighat DDC

Two time bombs planted at the office of Udayapur District Development Committee (DDC) in Gaighat were defused by a bomb disposal squad of Nepal Army Monday afternoon. The bombs were timed to go off at 1:30 and 2:00 pm.
Locals and DDC employees were panicked when an office assistant discovered a stray black bag inside the room of Planning Department of the DDC Office brought it out.
When news about the finding of the stray bag weighing five kilograms spread, the local were in great fear.
An outfit named Khambuwan Rastriya Mukti Morcha Samyukta has claimed responsibility of planting the explosives.
An anonymous caller posing himself a representative of the armed outfit had called up to tell that bombs were planted in the government facility. But he did not tell intention behind planting the bombs.
A bomb disposal team deployed from NA 18 Battalion from Jhilke defused the twin bombs.
Deputy Superintend of Police Narendra Uprety said that it was the most powerful bomb disposed in the district.
Meanwhile, a man was found dead at Tarkhagal road of Dadhikot-2 in Bhaktapur district, this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Gopal Karki, 38, of Tarkhagal.
Locals informed police after seeing Karki dead on the road.
Police suspected that Karki might have died due to excessive cold. It is informed that investigation into the case is underway. The body of the deceased has been sent to Bhaktapur Hospital for post mortem, informed the police.
